From First Stamp to Full-Time

When I first became a notary in 2018, I was working as a tax preparer — focused on helping individuals and families get their financial documents in order. At the time, I was looking for an additional stream of income, something flexible that could complement the work I was already doing.

What started as a simple step — getting my notary commission — quickly turned into something much more powerful. I realized that one stamp held the potential to open doors, build relationships, and launch a business rooted in service and integrity.

🖋️ My First Stamp

Working in tax preparation, I was already used to handling sensitive documents and helping people during important life transitions. Becoming a notary felt like a natural extension — but I soon saw the deeper impact it could have.

Loan closings. Estate planning. Custody agreements. Every document had a deeper story — and I was honored to be trusted in those moments.

💡 The Shift: Side Hustle to Serious

Here’s what helped me grow:

1. I Treated It Like a Business — Not a Gig

I registered DBH Professional as an official business, created a brand identity, and showed up with professionalism from Day 1.

Tip: Get your LLC, website, business cards, and booking system in place early. Presentation matters.

2. I Focused on Relationships, Not Just Revenue

People don’t just remember what you do — they remember how you made them feel. I focused on honor, care, and confidentiality in every appointment.

Tip: Be consistent. Show up on time. Follow through. That’s how repeat business and referrals grow.

3. I Stayed Ready to Learn & Adapt

I didn’t know everything at first. But I took courses, joined communities, and asked questions. I added services like remote online notarization, courier work, and estate document handling as I grew.

Tip: Keep investing in yourself. What you learn today opens doors tomorrow.

4. I Built a Brand With a Message

“Doing Business Honorably” isn’t just a motto. It’s a promise. And it gave DBH Professional purpose that clients could connect with.

Tip: What’s your message? Lead with it. Your brand is your story in motion.

🛣️ From Hustle to Honor

Building DBH wasn’t always easy — but it was worth it. I’ve built relationships, helped families, and created something my community can rely on.

Whether you’re part-time, just starting out, or thinking about going full-time — trust your journey. You don’t have to have it all figured out to start. You just have to start.
