Ready, Set, File: Preparing for Tax Season as a Newly Approved ERO

I waited years for this moment.
Letter after letter, update after update — each one saying the same thing: “Your application is still pending.”

Every time I’d check my EFIN status, I’d hope for something different. But instead, I got more waiting, more delays, and honestly, more doubt. There were moments I felt completely defeated — wondering if maybe this just wasn’t meant for me. I even caught myself looking for loopholes or other ways around the process, just trying to find some way to move forward.

Then one day, I logged in — same as before, not expecting much — and there it was.
Approved.

That one word hit different. It wasn’t just approval from the IRS; it felt like confirmation from God. After years of trying, learning, and fighting through closed doors, I finally had the green light to step into the next level of my purpose.

The Wait Wasn’t Wasted

Looking back, I understand why the process took time. I wasn’t just waiting on approval — I was being prepared for it. I needed that time to learn, to build DBH Professional on the right foundation, to understand what it really means to do business with integrity.

When it finally happened, I didn’t rush into celebration — I paused. I took a breath. I thought about how far I’d come and what it took to get here. That’s the thing about delayed blessings — when they arrive, you appreciate them on a different level.

Stepping Into This Season

This tax season isn’t just another year for me. It’s the start of a new chapter — my first season as an approved ERO, with my own EFIN and my own systems in place. It feels like standing on solid ground after years of sinking sand.

Of course, it’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s also a reminder of why I started: to build something real, something rooted in faith and honesty. Every return I file, every client I serve, is a reflection of that journey — proof that patience really does pay off.

Doing Business Honorably

When I say Doing Business Honorably, it’s more than a slogan — it’s my story. It’s what this entire journey has been about. The waiting, the frustration, the approval — all of it shaped the way I move now.

I used to chase progress; now I honor the process.

Becoming an ERO didn’t happen overnight. It took years of faith, frustration, and fighting to keep going. But that approval wasn’t just paperwork — it was a reminder that divine timing is always better than my timing.

So, as I prepare for this upcoming tax season, I’m not just getting ready to file returns. I’m showing up with gratitude, discipline, and peace — knowing that every “pending” season in my life was just preparation for my “approved.”
